April Fool’s Day presented a one off opportunity to build the Liquorland brand in a way the general public love. Using a new breakthrough technology called WinePatch, Liquorland offered readers of the New Zealand Herald the opportunity to ‘taste’ a range of wines through special patches infused with the wine. The ad was a huge success, with the Liquorland web blog quickly filling with confessions from people who had fallen for the gag. It was also talked about on 3 radio stations and best of all, received a special mention on One News that evening.
